20 New Nominations for the Pro Futura Scientia Programme
20 researchers from twelve universities in five countries have been nominated to the tenth round
of
the
Pro Futura Scientia Programme. Representing a wide
range of subjects within the social
and
human sciences,
thirteen men and seven women are now competing for the Pro Futura X positions.
After a rigorous
selection
procedure, some 15 per cent of the
nominees will eventually be admitted
to
the programme. The final decisions
are
expected to be made in May 2015. In addition to Swedish
universities, nominations
have been received from
the Universities of Cambridge and Tartu as well.
The Pro Futura Scientia Programme for early career scholars was set up in 1999 by the Swedish
Collegium
for Advanced Study (SCAS) and Riksbankens
Jubileumsfond (the Swedish Foundation
for
Humanities and
Social Sciences; RJ) in order to give especially
promising researchers in the
humanities
and social sciences
optimal scope for developing as researchers.
The programme provides
an attractive
career path for
promising
scholars, and those researchers who have attended the programme
in the past
have come to play an increasingly
important
role in the Swedish university and research system.
